The bad-news Bears are here again and making headlines in Boston. Just under an hour ago, Shelden Williams used Twitter to make the statement “Man when it rains it pours!!! Yall will find out what I mean soon!!!!”
Immediately, everyone is assuming that this means that the X-rays have come back revealing a broken foot for Paul Pierce after having Caron Butler fall on it last night in Washington DC.
Stay tuned to the 4SB Twitter and Facebook pages for updates.
Update: According to NBA.com/TNT’s David Aldridge “Paul Pierce may have a broken left foot” – Is that an update? It is for now…
Larry Ridley from 7News reports: “Source tells 7Sports Paul Pierce has a STRAINED left foot, it’s Not broken. Celtics to get more tests”
Marc Bertrand from 98.5 The Sports Hub: “ Just got off the phone with Gary Tanguay. He talked to Ainge, the team REALLY does not know the extent of the injury. More tests being done… It may not even be that serious. Pierce could even play tomorrow. Tanguay stressed that other reports are very pre-mature.”
According to Celtics.com, “The Boston Celtics announced today that forward Paul Pierce suffered a strained left mid-foot during the first quarter against the Washington Wizards on February 1. He is currently listed as day-to-day.”
That still leaves an awful lot up in the air with a nearing trade deadline.
Can’t be good for Pierce and the C’s. Pierce has a lingering knee injury and now a broken foot. This is ugly. Additionally, if the Celtics trade Ray Allen, and Pierce is out, the Big 3 is down to 1…an injury prone KG. Yikes.
