Stupid Is As Stupid Does

As if having to play the Jets wasn’t enough of an embarrassment, Jets’ Safety Kerry Rhodes has upped the ante on Sunday afternoon’s game in a recent NY Daily News article.

“You go out from the first quarter on, from the first play on, and try to embarrass them,” Rhodes said. “Not just go out there and try to win, try to embarrass them. Try to make them feel bad when they leave here. We don’t want to just beat them. We want to send a message to them, ‘We’re not backing down from you and we expect to win  this game, and it’s not going to be luck, it’s not going to be a mistake.’ ”

Oh Kerry, Kerry, Kerry…

Not sure if you remember back 2007 when a young Anthony Smith (who?) of the Pittsburgh Steelers “guaranteed a win“ and Smith was turned into the laughing stock of the game as Brady sailed a 63-yard touchdown pass over his head to Moss.

Not to mention, should anyone on a team that just got press for having their coach call season ticket holders to “suggest” to them that they come ready to support their team and be the extra defenders for their home team. Realistically, I think he is just trying to plead that they don’t resell their tickets to Pats fans looking to go to the game…

This is all just part of the pathetic NFL (stands for NO FUN LEAGUE)Marketing bullcrap non-stop pre-game hype! This type of garbage is what makes this league a joke. Ever since the dictionary was updated with the new word “DIS-RESPECTED” we have constantly been bombarded with this type of nonsense, especially in the NFL. Hey, just go out and play the damm game but as long as it gets legs appealing to your typical NFL fan (46 years old, works for the State in corrections & loves his XXX Teddie Bruschi jersey) then it will continue. Personally, with the weather forecast for Sunday, I’ll be on the local un-crowded golf course while the great un-washed NFL’ers sit huddled in front of their coveted HD TV’s discussing the 2 deep zone.

It’s funny that you mentioned Anthony Smith and the Pittsburgh Steelers game, because that’s also the first thing I thought of when I heard what Kerry Rhodes had said. I can see Brady throwing his way for 150 yards and 2 TD’s just so he can get in his face and let him know just how good we are.
