ABCs of Thursday

“I love that dirty water! OOOOOOOOOOOOH, BOSTON YOU’RE MY HOME!”

For a weekday, we Bostonians have quite the lineup on tap for ourselves as we leave the grueling work day behind and head to our couches, buddies’ houses, and/or local pub.

The sporting lineup for today resembles the usual schedule of a Saturday on steroids. Sorry A-Rod, Clemens, and Lou Farigno, didn’t mean to bring it up.

At 3:35pm EST today, our local 9 will take the field in the rubber match of the 3 game series vs. the Los Angeles Angels. Brad Penny (3-1) will take on Ervin Santana (0-0) in his first start of the season after suffering a sprained elbow. After last night’s pitching masterpiece by youngin’ Matt Palmer (who sliced through the last 19 batters in the game without incident), the Sox are due to bring the hurt even without the big man Youk in the middle of the lineup.

Assuming the Sox go 3-3.5 hours, we go straight into a huge game 6 between the Celtics and Magic. Coming off the ugliest win of all time on Tuesday, the Celtics can take the series tonight in the Magic Kingdom as long as Ray Allen gets his groove back, Pierce stays out of foul trouble, and Rondo and Perkins ge2321828175_c67ecacb7bt back to playing their roles as they have throughout the playoffs. On a side note, the father of the Orlando fan who was hilariously shoved off by Big Baby at the end of Game 4 has apologized to Davis for demanding an apology. Hey, keep your kid off the court when you team gets jacked in the final seconds by a back-up little, big man.

And somewhere towards the end of the 2nd quarter we will be graced with the greatest competition in sports, Game 7 of a 7 game series. The Bruins will host the Carolina Hurricanes who played the last two games looking more like a downgraded low front (thank you Fox 25 weather anchor Kevin Lamanowicz for the terminology) after taking a demanding 3-1 lead in the series. I expect nothing less than a powerful performance by the B’s tonight to take the series and move on to take on the Penguins who had a dominant game on the road to take the 7 game series vs. the Caps in the last game.

Curious as to which game everyone will be favoring tonight? We all do the commercial ‘Last Channel’ push but which game will you be watching?

Thanks for your superior insight into my evening. I will be watching the Bruins game 7, and I will be sure to watch the 4th quarter of the celtics game. And see if I work my television watching strategies correctly, I can watch the 4th quarter without falling asleep. As I did in game six due to the constant celtics watching as opposed to bruins viewing. To me, bruins will keep me awake and alert as they hunt for a goal rather than the celtics, scoring and scoring, racking up the points, when in the end, its really only the last few minutes that matter.
